You can't go to Spain and not have paella ... this would be like going to Italy and not having pasta.
So it was fitting that on January 1 we would start the year with paella. As we strolled in the Albayzín neighbourhood, in the shadow of the Alhambra that loomed above, we stopped at a restaurant and chose a table in an open plaza.
In the picture below taken from the Alhambra, the yellowish buildings along the front mark the spot where we were seated.

I ordered a traditional paella with seafood, chicken and chorizo sausage. Fred ordered the squid ink version. Both were delicious, and so was the bread and wine.
